Peter Foden is a graduate of Cambridge and Liverpool Universities. For twenty years he has worked in local, business and academic archives and so acquired a comprehensive knowledge about a wide variety of historical sources. He has also taught courses about research methods for the universities of Birmingham, Keele, Leicester and Oxford.
He has carried out genealogical research in England, Scotland and Wales, but is now based in the East Midlands and offers research and advisory services to family or house historians using sources in the Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire Archives. Transcription and translation of earlier Latin or English sources such as manorial and bawdy court records, wills, inventories, deeds and charters are his specialisms.
Recent consultancy work has covered Freedom of Information implementation and modern records management, and Peter Foden also has some background in business archives.
