Liverpool research. Local photographic services. BMD & Censuses for England & Wales
Are you stuck with your family history research? Is there a census return you just can't find? Do you live outside Britain and have ancestors from Lancashire? Are you sick of paying Record Office researchers who take your money and don't perform a thorough search?
I may be able to help.
Although some people avoided the census enumerators in the 19th Century, most missing relatives are there somewhere, it just takes some time, determination and skill to work a way through the maze of bad enumerations or transcriptions. Locating hard to find census returns in England and Wales is a speciality of the Genealogy Genie.
After many years of tracing nearly 7000 of my own ancestors, I have a wide range of resources and skills which may help YOU find your family history or locate distant cousins. I am a keen researcher with years of experience who genuinely loves to help people track down their missing ancestors. My commitment, expertise and enthusiasm means that you recieve the best possible service and a thorough search you can trust. If your relative is recorded in an archive you request, I can guarantee that I will find the record for you. I have performed searches on my own family previously searched by the Record Office staff and found clear records they claimed were not there. Not only does this mean that money is taken for a service not recieved, but perhaps more importantly, it can cause a family historian to eliminate a particular avenue of research which is important for further discoveries.
My specialisms are general census and BMD records throughout England and Wales, along with an extensive library of church records and all available resources for Liverpool and surrounding areas. I am able to trace any record held by Liverpool Record Office and Libraries in Merseyside (formerly Southwest Lancashire). I have a BA hons in Fine Art and Photography and can provide local/family history photographic services, so if you want a cemetery record or old family home tracing and photographing, I can do this.
Whether you want some on-the-spot help with Liverpool research, assistance tracking down a missing census return or a more thorough tree research done, with report and GEDCOM file, then look no further.
Research can also be carried out elsewhere in the UK, but this will incur higher fees due to travel and accommodation costs.
Requests for look-ups at the Record Office are charged by time spent searching, to the nearest half hour, so if you ask me to search a 5 year period for a baptism, I will first work with you to determine the most likely year of the event, and work out from there. This will normally result in a faster search, costing you less. So if later records indicate that your relative was born in 1800, and you want me to check 1797-1803, I will look at 1800 first in order to keep your costs down as much as possible. I usually take digital photographs from the microfilm readers to provide the documentary evidence, and I take a number of photographs to ensure at least one clear image, along with a series of close-ups of the individual entry to pick up any hard to read or unclear parts of the entry. These photographs are clear, and more than sufficient as evidence to back up the transcription I provide, it helps to keep costs lower, as film printers are restricted at the record office and paper copies more expensive to pass on to the customer.
In the case of more recent records, these are usually held in the reading room and are available in the original books. Photography of these books is permitted, so you will recieve a digital image of the original register.
