Heritage Detectives specializes in United States research with a strong emphasis in Midwest area. Most of the research is done via the computer then followed with field trips to nearby libraries, archives, courthouses, and cemeteries.

Areas of research include marriage and death records, cemetery inscriptions, census records 1790-1930, local history, land records, newspapers, obituaries, pension applications, probate records, and tombstone photography.

Illinois Regional Archives Depositary (IRAD) - Federal records: censuses, naturalizations, military records, ship passenger lists, etc.
County Courthouses and Clerks and Town Clerks - Probate files, naturalizations, court records, marriage records, state censuses, business records, property records, etc.

Computer Services:
Internet searches and postings
Subscription database searches
IGI and Ancestral File searches (LDS)
Social Security Death Index searches
PERSI and manuscript searches

Field Research:
Cemetery searches & photography (digital), office inquiries, interment lists, etc. (Spring and Fall only)
Neighborhood surveys & photography of residences. (Spring and Fall only)
Local Historical Societies and Libraries in IL, McLean, Peoria, Tazewell, Livingston, Woodford, Logan and Ford Cos.

Rates
$30.00/hr for research

Total fees consist of hourly rate plus expenses (copies, parking, etc.) And for trips outside of McLean County,Illinois meals, accommodations and mileage at $0.60 per mile.

If overnight travel is necessary, charges will include the mileage, actual cost of room, plus other charges for travel, research and expenses.
Hourly fee includes organization of a professionally prepared client report. This report will contain a list of repositories searched, results obtained, copies of documents and suggestions for future research strategies with estimated costs for such research.
