YOUR INPUT
● Research productivity and the time needed to discover the information desired is in direct proportion to the assignment input. Most of the Provincial archival records are grouped by County. If possible, provide this basic information: the County or Community in New Brunswick where your ancestor was born or resided, the known or probable Church denomination plus all dates and ages as currently known. Productive research can result without these basics due to the availability of several Province-wide place and individual name indexes.
● To complement the work and to avoid possible duplication of findings, copies of your present documentation and/or compiled information are requested with your direction regarding specific research objectives and priorities.
RESEARCH FEES AND EXPENSES
● The services are based on hourly fees. Expenses are normally document or microfilm copies, long-distance calls and air-mail costs. Out-of-town travel is usually not necessary since most New Brunswick records are on deposit at PANB or at the UNB Harriet Irving Library in Fredericton. Where necessary, liaison with a local researcher will assure complete record coverage while avoiding travel expense. A research deposit by personal check is requested on engagement.
WHY HIRE A PROFESSIONAL RESEARCHER?
● The records research experience of the local researcher is the prime consideration. Sometimes, genealogical research of a family line comes to an end because of missing records or other reasons. An experienced researcher can often solve this problem by researching record groups you are not aware of or are not available to you.
● Physical distance from a record repository is a common reason for needing local research services. While we are today seeing more indexes of original database material online, full information is still only available at a record repository.
THE RESEARCHER'S WORK
● The research service objective is to find information about your ancestors from original and published records. The New Brunswick records of individual historical names are comprehensive at the above repositories. On first search, the researcher will study the normally most productive indexes and record groups to find ancestor information contained in these records. Most assignments will be completed in thirty days or less.
RESEARCH QUESTIONS ?
● If you have questions, these are best communicated by email message. However, if you want to speak with the researcher for a more personal research assessment, you are invited to phone the number above. Any calls taken by the answering machine will be returned the same or next day. Just record the time of the call, your name and phone number and the best time to call you back.
Offer a no-charge assessment of your research need or problem with quotation on inquiry. Ask for a free index search of your ancestor name at the Provincial Archives. Please provide a summary of present known information.
